Pell Grant
Well Bush's values are at work! Revise the Pell Grant qualifications --parent's income-to include recent tax refund. Brilliant! Give 'em a tax break and then take it back. Of course it affects some 80,000 to 90,000 people (about two thirds of the number fighting in Iraq). Many will undoubtedly have to drop out of college--unless, that is, their parents kept the refund check just lying about to supplement their kid's education. Maybe some of 'em will have to join the military to get their education. Good. Recruitment has been falling off dramatically since one can now get killed or disfigured in Iraq. But the savings are significant: about $300,000,000 over the 2005 to 2006 budget year. Let's see . . . that will pay for about one day in Iraq. Bush really knows how to pay for that war!

This post was the only one Bruce wrote back in Christmas of '04. I had just gotten excited about blogging and I kind of forced him into it. I knew if he'd wanted to, he could have kept an awesome blog. But he didn't really get the point of doing such things, so he abandoned it very quickly. I've decided to take it over, and use it to get out some of the little stories I have of him. If you can read this, dad, I hope you dig what you see.
Love, Max
